Children’s Day
On the occasion of Children’s Day, I was wondering what to post here… In Poland, it’s definitely a very joyful holiday, while in Ethiopia (it’s June 16th), we often talk about various global issues, children’s rights, and so on. Generally, these two realities intertwine – the sad one, related to social injustice, the phenomenon of street children, and so on, and the cheerful one, related to children’s carefreeness and their joy over anything. The children we work with often delight in even the smallest things. Street children sometimes make a sad face to beg for money for bread, and other times, when they receive a ball, they run around the field with a huge smile on their faces.
Happiness doesn’t depend on how much we have, but on how we appreciate what we have.
