Story of Asrat
Asrat has parents and a sister who lives in the foundation’s center. A year ago, we met them together in the same neighborhood and invited them to the center for open classes. His father is blind and begs on the streets. His mother also frequently goes out, but recently she was diagnosed with severe diabetes, and her health condition prevented her from functioning normally. We quickly accommodated his six-year-old sister at the center, and we invited Asrat to continue classes at the center, along with the many other boys who participated. However, Asrat stopped attending after a short time. He continued to beg, collecting scrap metal, and empty bottles. Only after a break of over six months did he begin participating again with other children in the neighborhood. Although Asrat remains close to his family, his situation at home is tragically difficult. It seems that the only option for this boy is to live in the center and start formal school. However, we still don’t have a place to accommodate him. We are considering creating another center.
