Vocational training for the unemployed
Since September, our instructors have been conducting vocational training for unemployed people. Two courses were held – tailoring and hairdressing and beauty courses. Very practical professions, because the demand in Awassa never decreases.
The workshops were created in 2021, when we received a large grant from Polish development assistance. Now, after these two years, we have once again received support for the project “Improving the living conditions of socially excluded children in Awassa through rehabilitation, professional activation of their families and renovation of the center where they live” for the purchase of additional consumable training materials, as well as for reimbursement of travel costs for women – mothers or other family members of our children. So far, the lack of any funds has been an insurmountable problem for them. Often during the day, these women were busy doing odd jobs, collecting bottles, scrap metal or looking for other activities that would bring some income. This small bonus for each of them allowed them to successfully complete their professional training. We believe that they and all other participants will find employment soon. Congratulations to all!
Project co-financed within the framework of the Polish development cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.
