I met Yeabsira two days ago. She went with her mother from house to house asking for help (money or food). There are a lot of such people, so it is impossible to help everyone. But somehow we particularly noticed her and decided to try to help her.

The girl and her mother say she is 11 years old (13/14 in my opinion). She dropped out of school in the second grade. When her father died, the whole life of the family shattered. Mom wasn’t able to pay the rent, feed the family … Yeabsira stopped going to school. They had to move to the outskirts of Awassa where it is cheaper. She was unable to work as before. For over a year, mother and daughter went out to the street to beg. This week they also knocked on Barkot’s door. After the interview and visiting home today, we plan to enroll Yeabsira in school and help her mother start a decent job again so that she can support her family.
