St. Daniel Comboni – what is his story?
St. Daniel Comboni lived in the 19th century. He devoted his entire life to missions in Africa. Despite all the hardships and dangers (mainly diseases unknown in Europe, from which many missionaries died), as well as skeptical people around him, he did not give up. He was a bishop, he served evangelization, promoted the idea of a mission in Europe, and even helped to liberate African slaves. He died young at the age of 50, believing that his work would last. I had my missionary formation and spent the first two years of my mission in the community of the Comboni Lay Missionaries. It is part of the Comboni family alongside fathers, brothers and sisters.
Since October 10 is the memory of St. Daniel Comboni, we pray for the entire Comboni family, brothers, sisters, fathers and, of course, the Comboni Lay Missionaries.

I am hearing all these for the first time even though I have been a Catholic all of my 85 years!
He definitely deserves to be properly remembered and honoured!
