Getaneh’s story
Getaneh (12 years old) family consists of parents and four siblings. The situation of his family is very difficult. His parents do not have a permanent job, so children are forced to beg in the streets to provide for the family. The father is probably a drug addict, addicted to khat – a locally grown plant which has similar effects to amphetamine
Getaneh dropped out of school during the second year of elementary school. Despite his age, he couldn’t read and write well. By overcoming many obstacles, he has already made a great improvement – he managed to master the alphabet. We have already enrolled him into a school and are continuing to work with him.
If you would like to support Getaneh permanently, follow his development, receive up-to-date photos, or even correspond with him, read more about the “Distance Adoption” campaign and select the name “Getaneh” when completing the form.
